Congratulations on bringing your child(ren) for Baptism.
This is an important occasion, not only for your family, but for all of us in St Patrick’s Parish.
To help you more fully understand initiation into the faith Community, the life of faith, which the Sacrament of Baptism signifies, we ask you to participate in a ‘Baptism Preparation Session’, and a “Rite of Welcome’ (which is the first part of the Baptism Ceremony itself).
As the minimum requirement for Baptism in St Patrick’s, attendance at both of these is necessary. In Baptism parents commit themselves to the faith-life of their child/children.
BAPTISM PREPARATION SESSIONS:
These are be held in the Parish “Library”, in the parish centre, or over Zoom App on the first Sunday of each month. These sessions go for about an hour. Please do your best to arrive in good time to register. Babies and Godparents are welcome.
THE RITE OF WELCOME:
This can be celebrated at any weekend Mass you choose after attending a Baptism Preparation Session and prior to the Baptism. If you wish, the ‘Rite of Welcome’ and Baptism can happen on the same day, or on separate days.
BAPTISM OFFERING:
There is never a charge for a Sacrament. Most families like to make an offering to the parish. An envelope is available for this purpose.
BAPTISM STOLES AND CANDLES:
All this information is given at the Preparation session.
