As the planning for the 2020 Plenary Council of the Church in Australia gets underway, Bishop Pat O’Regan would like to host a meeting with parishioners in each of our 27 parishes over the first half of 2018.   It is envisaged that these meetings will be a way of introducing parishioners to the concept of Plenary 2020; initiating dialogue; explaining the Plenary process and most importantly, listening to the people.

To that end Bishop Pat has put together a schedule of meetings to visit our 27 parishes and will be at St Patrick’s on the 24TH of April. Please mark your diary early!

Did you know that we have a sewing group at St Patricks?

  • Do you have a sewing machine in your cupboard that is not being used?
  • Would you like to learn to use it?
  • Would you like to learn how to make clothes for you or your children?
  • Would you like to learn how to do patchwork?

We have a group of enthusiastic ladies who meet on a Thursday from 11am till 2.30pm in the library room.  They are learning lots, including (1) how to use their machines, (2) how to make beautiful clothes, (3) some are using these sessions to improve their English speaking skills and they are having a lot of fun under the tuition of our teacher/leader Cheryl Billing Smith..

Cheryl is an experienced sewer and patchwork teacher and she comes with excellent skills that she is keen to share.

These are fun classes and if you are interested then you can contact Cheryl on 0417 124 811 or you can pop in one Thursday to check them out, or you can contact Mary Craven at the office.

An older, single lady is seeking a one bedroom accommodation in Pakenham to live in, to be closer to her relatives here. If anyone can help please ring Rose on 0430 282 533

We have an experienced sewing machine mechanic coming to St Patricks.

At this workshop our mechanic Gordon will talk to us about how we should keep our machines in tip top working order, he will show us how to care for it and he will give us tips on basic maintenance

This will be a two-hour workshop, starting at 10am and finishing at 12noon however we do ask that you arrive earlier to set up your machine . The workshop will cost $40.00.  This is a great chance to get a one on one with a sewing machine mechanic who can help you master your sewing machine and keep it well maintained.

It is not a repair workshop, it is a maintenance one

You must bring your sewing machine on the day and some scrap fabric and it will help us if you bring along an extension cord and a power board.  Please bring your sewing machine manual with you on the day. If you do not have a manual, then please let us know the make and model of your machine prior to the day.

Our mechanic does provide an excellent cleaning kit that is invaluable for cleaning your machine so if you are interested in purchasing one they will be available on the day.  The cost of this is $15.00.

To book into this workshop please contact Cheryl Billing Smith, you will need to pay for this workshop prior to the day and to do so you will need to organize a direct debit.
