FROM THE SAFEGUARDING OFFICER:
Bishop Patrick O’Regan has engaged the services of CatholicCare to conduct a series of training sessions across the Diocese on “Building a Child Safe Environment “. Our first session was conducted on the evening of 17th July and about 50 parishioners attended. The final session is scheduled for Saturday 21st March at 10 am to 12.30pm in the Church. It is expected that all parishioners with Working With Children Checks volunteering in St Patrick’s Parish who did not attend the first session will attend. We need to know who will be attending so we do require that you register your acceptance by completing the attendance list in the Church foyer.
The Catholic Diocese of Sale is delighted to welcome back Fr Paul Turner, from the Diocese of Kansas City-St Joseph. a facilitator for the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL), on which our Bishop Pat represents the Australian Bishops. Fr. Richard Leonard, SJ will be conducting a Lenten Mission at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in Narre Warren. Fr. Richard is a Jesuit priest, who is a well-known international speaker and has lectured on faith and culture all over the world. He is also a renowned author of some famous books such as; Where the hell is God? Why bother praying? What are we doing on earth for Christ’s sake? This Mission will focus on the issues that confront us as Christians in the contemporary world and offer practical direction about how we can live our lives of faith more deeply. The mission begins on Monday 30th of March to Wednesday 1st of April 2020.
The sessions are from 10am to 11.15 am and REPEATED at 7.30 pm to 8.45 pm. The sessions are 30th March- “Going out to the world: we need all the help we can get”31st March – “Nine steps to making better choices for my life” 1st April – “Where the Hell is God? THE CHILDREN’S CHOIR:
The choir dates for your diary, 28th Mar, 25th Apr, 23rd May, 25th July, 22nd Aug, 24th Oct, 28th Nov. The choir practice will be there from 5.15 pm onwards on the mentioned dates, before Holy Mass, inside the Church. There will be a meeting for Children’s Choir group parents and children on 22nd Feb after 6 pm Holy Mass in the parish library. All the new members welcome! We are looking for Teens or Youths who can play musical instruments to help out the children’s choir. COMMUNION MINISTERS AND SACRISTIANS TRAINING:
Our parish is always in need of more parishioners to serve as Communion ministers, Sacristans and ministers of communion to the sick. You will notice how often the task falls to the same people, never an ideal thing. On Sunday, Feb 23rd at 3:00 pm or Thursday 27th Feb at 7:30 pm, in the church, a workshop will be held for all new and existing ministers of Communion and Sacristans, to take up this important role of service in our community. Attendance to only one of them is needed. It would be great to have all the different communities who comprise our parish be represented more strongly in these roles.
