The Anointing of the Sick, formally known as Extreme Unction, sometimes referred to as The Last Rites, is a sacrament of healing: physically; emotionally; mentally; and most importantly a spiritual healing of the soul.  This is given to those who are gravely ill or has reached old age.   This is to bring those close to death final pardon and peace as they are united with the passion of Christ.
