ST PATRICK’S CHURCH REFURBISHMENT PROJECT:

For a couple of years now, a parish committee has been overseeing the planning of a major refurbishment of our church building. The committee consists of: Fr Bernard Buckley, Mick O’Brien, Liz Merrigan, Freda O’Gorman, Paul Velten, Ron Jayawardene, Helen Staindl, Herbie O’Flynn and Georges Willman, property officer for the Diocese of Sale.  In that time we have been in conversation with parishioner and artist, Anthony Russo, and architect Nick Russo. During this time we have been considering issues of planning, building, engineering, finance and liturgy … among others.

Our discussion and planning for this project is now at the stage where the committee seeks the input of parishioners on the draft designs. The committee seeks to make a presentation to parishioners on the weekend of November 9th and 10th. We will have display boards from the Russos with plans and designs to date. Parishioners will have the opportunity to make written suggestions, comments etc for consideration as we plan further. Soon the draft plans will be submitted to the Bishop and his advisers seeking their required input and, we hope, approval for our plans.

Please accept the invitation to attend the briefing/ presentation on November 9th and 10th Masses to show your interest and offer your thoughts. .

ENCOUNTERING GOD “A DAY FOR WOMEN”   By Maria Forde:

A group of St. Patrick’s women group church attended a retreat with Maria Forde on Saturday the 28/10 .  Maria’s facilitation style is simple yet captivating:  The session was most enjoyable, informative, reflective, engaging, entertaining and relaxing. We learnt heaps about Celtic spirituality and how it fosters a contemplative approach to recognising God’s presence in “thin places”.  We practiced and experienced the importance of “being in the moment” in order to experience the divine presence of God – that was profound!

The session ended with a powerful message that we are the rock on which the church is built – great message during turbulent times!

THE TREE OF REMEMBERANCE:

There is a long standing tradition in the church to remember the deceased in a special way during the month of November. There will be little cards on the table in the foyer for the entire month for you to inscribe in it the names of your departed loved ones. These will then be placed on our tree of remembrance.
