TO THE PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN, MAY WE SUGGEST
Relax! God put the wiggle in children; don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. All are welcome!
Sit toward the front where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what’s going on. They tire of seeing the backs of others’ heads. Quietly explain the parts of the Mass and the actions of the Priest, the choir, the readers etc.
Sing the hymns, pray, and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behaviour by copying you.
If you have to leave the service with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.”
Remember that the way we welcome children in the church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship.
To the Members of Our Church
The presence of young children is a gift to the church and they are a reminder that our congregation is growing. Please welcome the children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
Perhaps you wish to become a Catholic? Perhaps you are engaged to a Catholic, or have Catholic children, or un-Baptised children, or are simply looking for a friendly place to learn more about the Catholic church? You might be searching for answers to big questions about life, or death; or you’re searching for a Christian community to which you’d like to feel you can truly belong. Maybe you just want some more information. If you would like to know more about the Catholic faith, for any reason at all, then the next season of RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) at St Patrick’s parish, Pakenham, could be for you.
The RCIA is about
• The Good News of Jesus.
• Growing in the faith and beliefs of the Catholic church.
• Sharing a journey with others who would like to know God better.
• Learning to love the Lord.
• Learning to make life more Christian.
• Discovering that to come to faith in Jesus is life changing.
To start with there will be Enquiry evenings on Wednesday, November 7th and 14th, at 7
30pm in the parish’s Welcome Room. In the weeks after that there’s a time of some teaching, sharing and having some of your questions answered. Then, evenings follow that will offer more systematic discovery of the Catholic faith. It will also be a time to experience the life of the Christian community, and a time to recognize the presence of God in our lives. Easter is the time when those who have chosen to embrace the faith of the Catholic tradition may be fully initiated into the Church. Anyone interested is invited to make contact with Fr Bernard or our friendly staff at the parish office; and we will get back to you soon afterwards.
The Seniors’ anointing mass will be on Tuesday 30th October at 11
00am in the church. Lunch will follow. Please write your name in the signup sheet in the foyer for catering purposes.
