2019 FRIENDS OF SION GATHERING:

Friends of Sion Gathering will commence at 9.30 am on Sunday 10  November 2019 with Mass in St Mary’s Cathedral, Sale. This will be the penultimate gathering with the final event on Sunday 8 November 2020 celebrating 130 years of the arrival of the Sisters. EACH CHILD DESERVES A BIRTHDAY:

One of many slogans, plus blue and pink balloons, carried by large numbers, including our own parishioners, who last Saturday attended the rally in the city, calling for an end to the cruel abortion legislation in Victoria; and for help, counselling and support for women experiencing difficulty with a pregnancy. Three ladies shared their stories along with a young Member of Parliament from NSW, plus organiser-Bernie Finn –all claiming WOMEN DESERVE BETTER. An inspiring day.

MASS AT THE CEMETERY:

On November 6th, at 6:00 pm, all are invited to join in a Mass for the Faithful Departed and a Blessing of the Graves at the Pakenham cemetery, Thewlis Road.

Singers Needed

An Opportunity for all singers to multiply your gifts and talents as per Mathew 25:14-30 (Parable of Talents). Our three weekend masses need your voice. Please join the choir. Talk to the pianist.  

 

THE CHURCH IS ON MISSION IN THE WORLD – Pope Francis’s message for Mission Sunday. 

During the third week of this Extraordinary Missionary Month, we reflect on how all the baptized, in small daily steps, contribute to the work of the mission: “Faith in Jesus Christ enables us to see all things in their proper perspective, as we view the  world with God’s own eyes and heart (message for Mission Sunday 2019), May our eyes and heart be opened to the needs of the world around us as we encourage a missionary spirit in our communities this week.

MISSION SUNDAY:

There will be a leaving collection after all masses next weekend. Envelopes are available in the church foyer, If you would like,please take one and return it next week.

ENCOUNTERING GOD – A DAY FOR WOMEN:

Parish has organised a day for women on Saturday, October 26th with Maria Forde. Maria is a gifted songwriter and singer with compassion for human conditions. She has been involved in the catholic education for more than 25 years as a teacher, director of faith and Mission and retreats and liturgy coordinator. She is a regular presenter in catholic schools and parishes around Australia. http://mariaforde.com/

The cost is $20/ person. The parish will also have a little fundraising to cover the additional costs this weekend. If you are interested please put your name on the sheet in the foyer.

DAILY ROSARY IN OUR PARISH:

Every evening at 7:00 pm a group of parishioners gather in the welcome room and recite the rosary together. All parishioners are welcome to come and join.

PREPARING AND CELEBRATING THE SACRAMENTS OF HEALING:

presented by the ACU Centre for Liturgy.

  • What do Catholics believe about sacraments of healing?
  • How do Catholics celebrate reconciliation?
  • How do Catholics care for the sick?
  • Viaticum and Communion to the Sick.

This one-day formation event, presented by Professor Clare Johnson, with Fr Joseph Abutu and Ms Sharon Boyd, is for pastoral care workers, clergy, hospital chaplains, lay ministers, parishioners and all those who care for the sick.

Saturday 23rd November 9.00 am – 4.45 pm with registration from 8.30 am) at St Patrick’s Parish Centre, Registration Fee $60 per person (includes morning/afternoon tea, light lunch and handbook on Communion to the sick)

Next meal and companionship is this Sunday, Oct 20th   Doors open 5:30 pm for a 6:00 pm meal  Please feel welcome to come and enjoy a 2-course hot meal if you are struggling in this cold weather or finding it hard to make ends meet, or maybe just in need of some company.
