ST PATRICKS FEAST DAY: The feast of our patron Saint, St Patrick will be celebrated in our parish on March 17th beginning with Mass at 7:00pm followed by dinner in the parish hall. Bring a plate to share.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: This year’s World Day of Prayer will be held at The uniting Church, 47 James St, Pakenham, on Friday 6th March, at 1:30 pm.. If you are willing to represent our parish in saying the prayers of the faithful, please contact the parish office.

DISCUSSION GROUPS IN LENT: We have a Lenten program called “Grace”, for group discussions/reflections after stations of the cross every week during Lent. Parishioners are invited to join with a small group, to prepare for Easter. If you are interested please contact the parish office so the resources can be provided..

FROM THE SAFEGUARDING OFFICER: Reminder on Building a Child Safe Environment: It is expected that all parishioners with Working With Children Checks volunteering in St Patrick’s Parish, who did not attend the first session on 17th July 2019 will attend the final session on Saturday 21st March at 10am to 12.30pm in the Church. The session will be conducted by CatholicCare and you will find it enjoyable and enlightening.  Do come and by your attendance give witness to how seriously St Patrick’s Parish views the safeguarding of children. We need to know who will be attending so we do require that you register your acceptance by completing the attendance list in the Church foyer.

Fr Paul is the keynote speaker at the National Liturgy Conference in Parramatta in March. He will then arrive in our Diocese for two days of presentations. A LENTEN RETREAT PROGRAMME IN OUR PARISH: As a part of our preparation for Lent we will have a one-day retreat with Fr Elio Capra on Saturday 28th March from 10:30 am to 4:45 pm followed by the 6:00 pm mass. He will speak to us on A NEW LOOK AT THE

MEANING OF LENT AND EASTER. Pope Francis and the early Church remind that it is not just a time of “giving up”. It is a time of “rediscovering our first love”: Jesus Christ. All Parishioners are encouraged to come and attend. Gold coin donation appreciated.

PATRICK’S FETE: Friday 13th March from 4-9 pm: The committee is looking for donations of plants, Books, Trash & Treasure items. Cakes can be left in the parish kitchen fully labelled with ingredients (including water) on Thu 12th or Friday 13th. If any parishioner wants to help on stalls (WWC check) please contact the school.

GLUTEN FREE HOSTS: For those with an intolerance of wheat,

we do have Gluten free hosts. Please let Fr. Janeesh know of your need prior to mass. 

LENTEN MISSION: Fr. Richard Leonard, SJ will be conducting a Lenten Mission at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in Narre Warren. Fr. Richard is a Jesuit priest, who is a well-known international speaker and has lectured on faith and culture all over the world. He is also a renowned author of some famous books such as; Where the hell is God? Why bother praying? What are we doing on earth for Christ’s sake? This Mission will focus on the issues that confront us as Christians in the contemporary world and offer practical direction about how we can live our lives of faith more deeply. The mission begins on Monday 30th of March to Wednesday 1st of April 2020.

The sessions are from 10am to 11.15 am and REPEATED at 7.30 pm to 8.45 pm. The sessions are 30th March- “Going out to the world: we need all the help we can get”31st March – “Nine steps to making better choices for my life” 1st April – “Where the Hell is God? Holding to Faith through the tough times.” For more information please read the flyer on the notice board. This is a free event and all are welcome.

THE CHILDREN’S CHOIR: The choir dates for your diary, 28th Mar, 25th Apr, 23rd May, 25th July, 22nd Aug, 24th Oct, 28th Nov. The choir practice will be there from 5.15 pm onwards on the mentioned dates, before Mass, in the Church. All the new members welcome! THE WONDER WOMEN’S GROUP“Come and join a community of women for self-care and well-being.  The Women’s Group is for adults only, however, children can be accommodated and supervised if required.  The first session will be 3.30pm on Saturday 14th March 2020, in the meeting room (next to the playgroup).  We will be running various activities each session. MATTHEW: THE KING AND HIS KINGDOM The book of Matthew brings the history of Christ to life. We see Jesus as the awaited Messiah who fulfills the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament, establishes the New Law, and inaugurates the kingdom of heaven. Matthew: The King and His Kingdom, a twenty-four-part Bible study, explores how Jesus is challenging and empowering us to a new level of holiness and shows how we must be thoroughly immersed in the kingdom of heaven on earth, the Church, to live it.

St Patrick’s Church, Pakenham, will begin Matthew: The King and His Kingdom on May 1st at 6:30pm every Friday.  Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presentation followed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship.
